Plot Synopsis:
-------------------

The film starts with Carly Whitten (Cameron Diaz) and Mark King (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) engaging in a one night stand after meeting each other on a blind date. Eight weeks later, they are in a relationship, and Carly is quite happy. Carly, a single career woman, goes to work at a law firm where she tells her friend and secretary Lydia (Nicki Minaj) about the relationship, where Lydia notes that Carly hasn't been with a single man in forever. Little does she know that Mark is married to a chatty and neurotic woman named Kate (Leslie Mann).

Mark makes up an excuse to leave town for a few days, telling Carly there's an issue with the plumbing in his house. Carly is upset at this short notice, and she gets into an argument with Mark. He drops her off to have drinks with her dad Frank (Don Johnson), who is seeing a younger woman. He convinces Carly to show up at Mark's place to surprise him. She does so, dressing as a sexy plumber. She walks to his door and is greeted by Kate, who introduces herself as Mark's wife. A stunned Carly stumbles off the steps of the porch and trips backwards, knocking into a giant urn that she breaks.

An angry Carly storms into her office the next day and tears up the flowers that Mark left for her. She tells Lydia that he is married, but Lydia suggests this could provide some kind of spice in their lives. Carly is later visited by a distraught Kate, who has a nervous breakdown upon realizing that Carly had slept with Mark multiple times. Despite all of this, Kate continues to find Carly and attempt to bond with her. Eventually, the two become unlikely friends. Kate later takes out her rage by destroying Mark's office with a golf club.

Mark comes home and takes Kate out, leading her to feel tempted into sleeping with him. As she's in the bathroom getting herself ready, Mark gets a phone call from another woman. Kate overhears and fakes feeling unwell to not get into sex. The next day, while Kate and her brother Phil (Taylor Kinney) are fixing up the walls, she breaks down and tells him that Carly is probably still having an affair with Mark. She later confronts Carly, who says nothing is happening and she's hurt by the accusation. They figure out that Mark is seeing another woman.

The ladies follow Mark to Miami and stay in Phil's beach house as they spy on Mark and his new lady. They find the couple at the beach, and both ladies are shocked to see the new, much younger, and ridiculously hot woman named Amber (Kate Upton). Carly and Kate argue about Mark's change in tastes since both Carly and Kate are in their late 30s, while Amber looks only in her early 20s. Carly runs after Amber as she jogs down the beach, and Kate stops her and the two of them struggle in a cat-fight. Amber sees them fighting in the sand and approaches. Having been caught, Carly and Kate force themselves to tell Amber that she is getting played by Mark. A little later at a parking lot, Amber is also somewhat upset and reveals that she knows who Kate is, claiming that Mark had told her that he was getting divorced, but doesn't know Carly. That evening, all three ladies get together at the beach house where even though they are mad at the same guy, they continue to bond and drink and laugh while Carly starts making a connection with Phil.

The next morning, the hung-over Kate says she wants Mark to really hurt, so all three ladies conspire to get the ultimate payback on Mark, utilizing Carly's job as a lawyer, Kate's knowledge of Mark's lifestyle, and Amber's looks to get revenge.

Back in New York, Kate starts to mess with Mark by putting hair removal cream in his shampoo and give him loads of estrogen in his smoothies, causing him to grow breasts. Carly meets with Mark on a date, catches him flirting with another woman, and slips laxatives into both his scotch and water. He then shits his pants and has explosive diarrhoea, then gets robbed when trying to get people to get him pants.

The ladies consider having one of them take one for the team and sleep with Mark to get more information out of him. They play Rock-Paper-Scissors, leading Amber to decide she'll do it. Things get more complicated when Mark takes Kate out for a romantic dinner with his business partner Nick (David Thornton). She starts to feel romantically connected to Mark, regardless of his adultery. Carly and Amber show Kate the next day a list of companies that Mark has invested in and embezzled money from. Kate doesn't feel the strong drive for revenge as before. Carly exacerbates things by texting Mark to hang out. The ladies walk out on each other.

Mark takes Kate to the Bahamas as he plans a business trip. Carly and Amber show up for Kate after Kate has given Carly an envelope with contracts from Mark's businesses, citing Kate as the CEO of the defrauded companies. They follow Mark from a hotel, where he is with yet another woman, whom he takes with him to the bank where he keeps his offshore money.

On the day that the ladies plan to make their move, Kate throws her engagement and wedding rings into the ocean. Carly and Amber sit by her side on the beach. They later take her to the bank to resolve the situation.

The final showdown comes when Mark is invited to Carly's law firm for a meeting. Lydia guides him to the conference room where Mark is forced to stand face-to-face with all three ladies. Kate immediately says she wants a divorce, but Mark refuses, trying to reel her back in with innocent apologizing. The ladies show Mark that Kate has returned all the money to the defrauded companies, leaving Mark with absolutely nothing while Kate gets the other half of his money. Nick comes in after being told the truth, and he fires Mark. Mark breaks down and loses his shit, throwing the papers everywhere and walking face-first into the glass wall, causing him to bleed. He runs to a computer and sees his bank accounts closed. He walks into a whole glass wall and he ruins his suit. He goes outside the building and sees his car getting towed. He screams in fury, and asks how this can get worse. Frank then comes out and punches Mark in the face, knocking him on his ass.

The ladies meet one last time and toast to their friendship. The ending text states that Kate works with Nick now and is the CEO of multiple successful companies. Carly and Phil became a couple and are expecting a kid. Amber starts a relationship with Frank and they travel the globe to keep up with the summer season, though Carly refuses to call her "Mom."

This is exactly what it advertises itself to be. At least that was refreshing. It's completely mindless and almost every single character is either extremely shallow or irritating and often both.

As badly as this is written, somehow Leslie Mann makes it work for her character. She manages to make the viewer actually care about her somehow. She simply puts it all on the table and her boldness mixed with her charm manages to rise above awful material. The rest of the cast is, frankly, terrible. The cheating husband is such a dumb cartoon character. Cameron Diaz has grown genuinely unpalatable. Kate Upton tried her gorgeous best but it's clear even the director had to try and cut around her acting shortcomings. I smell a few Razzie nominations for this mess.

Yes, the characters are over the top. But it didn't bother me at all! This film actually needs those over the top characters to fit the plot. And I do think the acting women pulled it off! Unfortunately I do agree with reviewers which mentioned bad acting from the male character. But it didn't bother me that much to make the movie less enjoyable.

This is a typical chick flick, and the kind you want to watch on a lazy Sunday. Because I love that kind of movie from time to time, and I think this one is just the wright fit, I gave it a high rating.

But I can understand this movie is not for anyone. When you're going to watch this, just don't take everything too serious! Just have a laugh..

Definitely turned out better than I had expected, (due to certain reviews I'd read.) I got the impression that this movie would be a cheap knock off to the movie John Tucker Must Die but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and though these two films do hold the same concept I thought that The Other Woman did a fantastic job of creating its own take on the idea that it centered around. I liked that this was an adult version of many movies out there similar to this; because instead of feeling over done or repetitive, it was fresh and creative. I loved that they strayed from typical romance takeovers, (that usually envelope around this sort of project,) and stuck with the basic idea of the three main female characters creating a bond throughout the whole experience. Yes there was some incline to romance at the end but that's all it was, a short summary of what turned out instead of a bubble of love they try and pin on audiences. I enjoyed the dry humor and comedy in this movie, I'd definitely recommend it. It's a great watch and a nice film to just enjoy a night in. As to the character and the actors playing them, I loved it, I thought they were great and what's not to like about a film featuring Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann, two amazing actresses and although I haven't watched allot of Kate Upton's Work I think she did a great job despite not having as big of a script as the other leads. That's about it, it's a decent film, I say watch it if you haven't and be the judge, see for yourself because with this sort of thing it's really a 50/50.

This was one of those "odd friends" movies. Cameron Diaz learns the hard way that her hot new beau is actually married and meets the wife, who of course is distressed to learn of the affair. The two become friends and learn that there's ANOTHER mistress out there who joins in. You just know that they're all going to get revenge and that the guy's up to something, don't you? I think that the ladies work really well together, and that the guy plays a good mean SOB, and that the revenge scenes are good, and that the "ultimate final revenge scene" in the law office is a classic, and the movie is pretty good. Whether you'll like it depends on your tastes.

Cameron Diaz does it again--a great comedic actress who brings depth and sensitivity to her characters (while looking stunning!) This is the first film I've seen in a very long time where we missed some lines because the audience--men and women--were laughing so much.

Those laughs come from a combination of quips as well as some physical comedy, all delivered up with just the right amount of wit and TRUTH. At first glance, this may seem to be a chick flick, but men will enjoy it just as much. My only gripe--Spoiler--is the bathroom humor that most movie-makers seem to think is a required element for all comedies. Hence my 8 stars instead of 9.

I love love love this movie! I figured that it would be fun to watch, because you can't go wrong with Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann as the lead characters...but it exceeded my expectations by like 2-3 stars. My boyfriend even caught himself belly-laughing out loud a handful of times during this movie. It was just what I needed: a lighthearted, feel-good comedy that ultimately becomes a story about female friendship and self-empowerment. If you're a girl who's ever been betrayed, felt insecure, down in the dumps, or felt like you've lost the upper-hand in a relationship, go see this movie! It will pick you up, dust you off, give you a pep talk, and remind you of how important it is to have good girl friends that make you laugh and pick you up when you're down. It might also make you paranoid that your perfectly charming husband is having a secret affair... but try not to let it have that effect on you. :)

From the very beginning, this movie is something different. We get the girlfriend who finds out she's a mistress, and then we think we can predict what's gonna happen because movies like this are always the same, but instead we're surprised over and over again.

You might think that Katy is stupid at first, but she surprises with insight and brilliance that we rarely get to see from women in movies. Instead of pitching women against each other, we get to see them form a strong friendship and help each other through the emotional pain that Mark is putting them all through.

And their triumph in the end is as sweet as only revenge can be! I really enjoyed this movie and I'd definitely watch it again :)

I set out seeing this with the assumption that it would be the normal romantic comedy that we have seen 1000's of (I don't mind seeing them, I like most kinds of comedy, as long as it is not too childish), but it was not. Some reviewer are giving low scores because of no depth of characters, plot holes etc etc, but come on - did you really expect that from this kind of movie? This (kind of-) movie is like a simple action movie, you must not expect too much realism, it is simply made for making you laugh. I know I did.

Thankfully, this movie is not so much about revenge which has been so many times, but rather about the development of the odd friendship between the ladies and their conspiracy towards the man in the film, Mark, played by Nikolaj Coaster-Waldau.

Cameron Diaz is actually rather good in her role, and her character Carly's way of dealing with the situation is quite refreshing (trying to just walk away). Leslie Mann is hilarious and together they pulls through the movie. Kate Upton does not bring much to the movie though, but her role is also of a lesser part of the movie.

I'm putting a 8, maybe it only deserves a 7.

When men cheat, what happens in this movie usually doesn't happen, but it did for these three ladies, and it makes for an enjoyable watch. The plot isn't filled with holes, and there are a lot of laughs, especially out of what Kate Upton says because she's really only known for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editions and therefore starts off playing a bit of a ditz, sort of like Leslie Mann's character, who is the insecure one of the group that's tricked into signing papers for her husband's company that she's the CEO of.

Enjoy this film with friends. It's the perfect buddy comedy even though the cast is largely female and men aren't really a big part of it at all. It'll be part of Cameron Diaz's best of collection in the coming years.

This was a hilarious movie of revenge and consequences. One thing we know for a fact is that there are a lot of women who have been cheated on, and there are a lot of women who have unknowingly been the other woman. As women, we're told not to blame the other woman for the affair, but instead the blame should be placed on the married man, because, after all, he knew what he was doing the entire time. "The Other Woman" is a lot of women's fantasy on film; a depiction of women getting together to get back at the cheating, lying man in their lives, who brought them heartache due to his selfishness and deceit. "The Other Woman" is cleverly written, has a lot of relatable humor and shows that out of the heartbreak that comes from cheating, not only can their be vindication, but a friendship can develop between women due to that unfortunate, yet common bond. Cameron Diaz was the funniest I think she's been since "There's Something About Mary" and "The Other Woman" if worth going to see if you want to laugh out loud. This is the best 'wife revenge' movie since the "First Wives Club". So if you liked "The First Wives Club", you will love "The Other Woman"!

Cameron Diaz twisted her leg while chasing Kate Upton
------------------------

Originally received an R rating for the use of the word "vagina" but after a petition and without any edits to the movie, the rating was reduced to PG-13.
------------------------

When Diaz says to Mann, 'What is this high school? Of course, we slept together. We're adults!' This is a nod to 'John Tucker Must Die' which has a very similar plot concept.
------------------------

The part of Dana, the transgender woman who makes out with Nikolai Coster Waldau is played by director Nick Cassavetes long-time assistant, Colin Bannon.
------------------------

This is another film which casts Cameron Diaz as one third of a trio of bevy women. The other two are the" Sweetest Thing"with Selma Blair and Christina Applegate. And of course Charlies Angels with Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu
------------------------

Julian McMahon auditioned for the role of Mark.
------------------------

Second time Cameron Diaz works with director Nick Cassavetes. The first being My Sister's Keeper.
------------------------

The role of Lydia was originally written for a Jewish girl but when Nick Cassavetes saw Nicki Minaj on American Idol he thought she was perfect for the role.
------------------------

Several times when Carly supposedly speaks, her mouth is not moving or it is closed.
------------------------

When Carly throws down the vase in her office it ends up lying on the table. The shot then shows Lydia then goes back to Carly; the vase is now standing upwards and remains that way for the rest of the scene.
------------------------

One scene shows Kate wearing brown sunglasses outside and when she goes inside and puts them on her head, they are white.
------------------------

When Carly is putting Kate and her dog into the cab after their drunken night at Carly's, Kate is wearing a long sleeve sweater when the cab pulls up but then it disappears in the next shot.
------------------------

When Carly is looking at Amber through the binoculars and talking to Kate she is not wearing any sunglasses. When she starts to run after Amber on the beach she is then wearing sunglasses. When the camera cuts to Amber and then back to Carly, she is not wearing sunglasses again.
------------------------

Before Mark walks through the glass, the glass panels are gray. When he walks through the glass 20 seconds later they are clear.
------------------------

When Carly and Amber go to see Carly's dad Frank at "No Hands" a woman comes and starts massaging Carly and Amber. When front view of Carly is shown the masseur is there but when the side-back view of Carly is shown the masseur is missing. Happens twice.
------------------------

After Carly breaks her heels, and falls into the bush, she rises comfortably, with the broken heels intact mid air.Carly also stands on the broken heels without bending even though its not to be in view.
------------------------

During a shower scene, Mark is losing clumps of hair because Kate replaced his shampoo with hair removal cream, but when we see him afterwards he shows no signs of hair loss at all.
------------------------

When Kate is talking to Mark on the phone about coming to the city to meet him, she is standing in front of Baco Mercat. This is a downtown L.A. restaurant and she is supposed to be in Connecticut.
------------------------

When Kate goes back to Carly's apartment, before the Bahama's trip, almost every time the camera goes to Carly, her hair has changed. One time her hair is down, another time it's behind one ear, another behind both ears. Her hands never move.
------------------------

Almost every time a character is on the phone they clearly aren't really on a "phone call". It either shows the iPhone's lock screen or home screen.
------------------------

When Mark was speaking to Amber on the phone, his phone's screen was clearly turned on and was on the iPhone home screen as he spoke into it.
------------------------

When Mark runs into the glass after being confronted by the ladies on his embezzlement, it is obvious that he has a blood bag or pouch in his mouth because he begins to spit it out before hitting the glass.
