The story centers on two car thieves, brothers, who journey to the south of France for new opportunities and wind up in the cross hairs of the local crime boss. Andrew and Garrett Foster (Scott Eastwood and Freddie Thorp) are thieves who specialize in luxury cars, only the most expensive cars. They've been hired to steal a gorgeous Bugatti 1937 valued million euros, so they head to the south of France for the job. But they get caught, and Jacomo Morier (Simon Abkarian), the local crime boss who owns the Bugatti, doesn't take it lightly. In exchange for their lives the two brothers will have to steal a car from Max Klemp (Clemens Schick), Morier's arch-rival, and not any car, Morier wants them to steal Klemp's 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, his most prized car. The best parts of the FF franchise are the effects and action scenes which require a massive budget.

Take away the budget and you get this movie which is a boring, clique'd, uninspiring mess that should have not been made.

Not absolutely horrendous but you will forget that this movie existed after walking from the theater.

Do not waste your time with this movie. -Directing is bad: car chases are slow and the director does not give the audience a single frame that would surprise or be exiting to watch, a lot of editing mistakes, bad special effects (like the Porsche 911 that catches fire after a crash...). French companies were in charge of the special FX (umedia VFX and Digital District) and while they must have put a lot of effort to do their job with a budget...the result is laughable. -Acting is very bad: Scott Eastwood CAN NOT ACT. So does the rest of the crew... - Cars: We're talking about a car movie...and the cars were just ridiculous except for two... - Bad script: very predictable (if you didn't see the twist coming at the end...you're not very bright) - I would like to ask Mr. Scott Eastwood and the movie producers to refund my tickets for this movie!

On the plus side the rare and vintage cars are quite beautiful and the scenery in the South of France is attractive even though Marseilles is not the prettiest town in France. The cast is OK but B movie caliber. The girls are semi hot and the villains semi menacing. Scott Eastwood is alright but he doesn't quite have enough charisma to make up for the rest of them.

The story seems pretty predictable until a twist saves things then it doesn't seem like such a ho hum movie. The car chase is rather slow because the cars are delicate and can't be damaged. In fact I was more anxious about the cars being dented than anything else. This movie doesn't attempt to be a Furious type movie.

Not a must watch by any means.

I really don't know what to say, that hasn't already been covered by the other reviewers other than, this movie left me with a lot of unanswered questions. Such as: Who the hell makes these films? Why? How? Surely the production cost outweighs the incoming revenue? I know a lot about low budget filmmaking and I understand that this film is not necessarily the worst low-budget film ever made... but it comes very close. Here are my two main gripes: Who signs off on it's production? Are they proud of their work? Do they have any concept of shame?

Overdrive mashes so many ideas from other movies that it was hard to keep up with all of them and so I stopped counting when I couldn't keep up. Sure, stealing from other movies isn't a bad idea when you add your own touch. As some guy once said "steal like an artist" but with this one, it's like you're watching a weird reenactment of cool ideas from other movies without adding your own details or imprint or at least gluing them together with some sense.

And this is the case with this movie. They made a soup of ideas from other films: vintage and sports cars, protagonists that get trapped in doing a "job" for the rich douche-bag, pretty locations, chases, and cute faces.

But when you add in really bad acting, way too many plot twists and side characters, an absolute lack of chemistry between the main actors, boring racing scenes and some of the stupidest lines of dialogue one can only wonder how come no one realized it was destined to fail in such a loud way?

Speaking of loudness, a message to its creators: turning that goddamn volume up to 1 million won't make it more entertaining but instead leave its viewers with a gigantic headache.

I could, however, see 2 qualities in this racing flick: some pretty panoramic views of France (a la Fast and Furious, of course) and the protagonist half-brothers who actually felt like they were half brothers.

Teens will probably fall in love with the cute faces but otherwise, you should stay away from this poor man's Fast and Furious because Overdrive "overdrives" far from its inspiration points way up to the realm of too much, or too little. Drive Over it and go see something else.

Also, who the **** eats cereal at night?

This is one my very bad movie experience in Malaysia. Only 10 people were there to watch this movie after 35 mins 5 left.. I don't know how to express about this movie.. Lots of money invested but no story no climax nothing. Through out the whole movie they are Just forecasting dozens of expensive cars.

I genuinely cannot believe that this went forward and was turned into a genuine movie. I actually have a very high tolerance for useless films, but this was on its own level all together. I'm surprised it even has a 5.3 rating.

A lot of people are discussing how Scott Eastwood should be getting better gigs etc, but he is possibly the worst part of this movie. A main actor who can't act, who has no charisma, he really can't deliver a line. The secondary acting was also shocking, the horrific french accents and the forced lines, especially by the two girls, its like they had never heard or seen real people interact.

I think (though to be honest I'm not sure) that the film was meant to give off a sense of style and suave, but it failed at even that. It was all tacky and just name dropping of various big cities around the world, the budget wasn't tiny on this either so that's no real excuse.

People are calling it a poor mans (also completely whitewashed) Fast and Furious, but that's a bit too generous, its so much worse than that. There is an absence of logic when it comes to the story. I felt like i was watching a sequel to which I hadn't seen the predecessor. Things are mentioned but not explained and left hanging. Like they stole one guys cars and then another guys with no repercussions?

nothing much else to say except that Eastwood Jr's career deserves to be heading in the direction that it is, he is completely void of talent.

Scenery is great (Southern France seashore in Autumn), Opening scene is catching (none can deny it), Ana de Armas, Clint Eastwood's son together with other nice guys and beautiful girls help keep interested, script and direction are good (very professional), dialogue is entertaining… in other words this title is an 87 enjoyable minutes.

Personally I'm not fond of cars and I don't think the 'Fast and Furious' franchise was so clearly better. Surely it ain't more clever. So, if you like action movies and you want to watch something light, relaxing and entertaining, my suggestion is to feel free to enjoy without listening to needlessly scandalized reviews.

and i didn't understand most of this film. is this a sequel? of what? who is who and what do they want? why steal a car and kill people when you are a billionaire and can just buy it? stupid fake action and race scenes, meaningless sentences and very, very stupid criminals. I hoped that Ana would save the day, but after watching this garbage i could only thin: "Should i watch the new BladeRunner?"

Poor old Clunk Eastwood must be rolling in his grave...or would be if he was pan but almost every actor in this is awful.

Its probably notable that Karl Urban pulled out and many others so it seems the roles went to those at the bottom of the barrel and I do hear that old Clunk Eastwood gave the producers a back hander to get his son into it.

The English bloke Freddie just couldn't act - it was painful - I actually feel sorry for the wee chap!

Cant stand the London Idris Elba accent - he is another overrated actor if you can call him that but i digress.

Ana De Armas who i hear is in the new Bladerunner movie which i haven't seen yet and now makes me think twice as she was another of the acting eyebrows, bit of fluff on a stick style non-actress - I wonder which directors casting couch she laid out on to get into acting - Harvey maybe! ;p;

So bad, bad is the acting but on the positive side - the cars were good to look at and there were a few good explosions and bridges collapsing and you get a half decent car chase or two but the story is nothing spectacular - I don't really go for car movies much as in my opinion the car chase in COLD SWEAT with Charles Bronson is one of the best even though Steve McQueen fans may argue that one but this is nothing in comparison.

Could have been much better if they had found some actors who could like .. welll .... act!
